Youth Events
Tales for Tails
Tales for Tails is an opportunity for students (1st grade – high school) to practice their reading skills in a judgement-free zone while also helping equines, dogs, and cats at our shelter get the socialization they need.
Junior Volunteer Club
Junior Volunteer Club meets once a month for 5 months and is an opportunity for 12-15 year olds to gain hands on experience volunteering at the Dumb Friends League. This is a great way to meet a community service goal or simply just to help the homeless pets in our care. Students will work alongside adult volunteers cleaning animal enclosures and working with cats, dogs, and small mammals.
Youth Volunteer Day
Youth Volunteer Day is an opportunity for students aged 8-11 to experience three of our most popular programs in one day: Paint and Pets, Pawsitive Service Day, and Tales for Tails (includes a break for lunch). What should my child bring? Students need to bring a book (to read to read to animals), wear closed-toe shoes, as well as provide their own lunch.
